Balloon Care, Safety & Sustainability Guide
Everything you need to know to care for, store and safely use your Luxtex balloons while achieving the very best results.
At Luxtex, quality is at the heart of everything we do. We work closely with trusted manufacturing partners to carefully select colours, refine finishes and maintain exceptional consistency across our balloon range. Every balloon is produced from premium natural latex and designed to deliver reliable performance for professional decorators and event stylists.
As a natural product, slight variations can occasionally occur between production batches. These are minimal and do not affect the quality, durability or performance of your balloons.
To achieve the best performance from your Luxtex balloons, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive humidity. Keeping balloons sealed in their original Luxtex resealable zip-lock bags helps protect them from dust, moisture and environmental exposure, ensuring they remain in excellent condition until you're ready to use them.
Avoid storing balloons in areas with extreme temperatures, as excessive heat or cold may affect their performance and longevity.
The ideal inflation size will depend on your application. For helium-filled balloons, we recommend inflating your Luxtex balloons to their intended size to achieve the classic balloon shape and maximise float performance.
For balloon garlands and organic installations, many professional decorators prefer to slightly under inflated balloons to create a rounder, fuller appearance. Consistent sizing is key to achieving a polished, professional finish, and using a balloon sizing tool can help ensure every balloon is inflated uniformly.
Temperature should also be considered when inflating balloons. Balloons expand as the air inside them warms and contract as it cools. If balloons are being moved from a cool environment into warmer conditions, slightly under inflating them can help reduce the risk of popping as they expand. Likewise, balloons inflated in hot conditions may appear softer when moved into a cooler environment.
Avoid over inflating balloons, as this places unnecessary stress on the latex and increases the risk of popping.
Latex balloons naturally oxidise when exposed to oxygen, sunlight and the elements. As this happens, the surface of the balloon develops a soft matte or velvety appearance. This is a natural characteristic of premium latex balloons and is not a defect or fault in the balloon.
The rate of oxidation will vary depending on environmental conditions. Direct sunlight, heat and outdoor exposure will cause balloons to oxidise more quickly than those used indoors or in climate-controlled environments.
If you wish to maintain a glossy finish, a balloon shine product can be applied after inflation to restore the balloon's appearance.
Outdoor balloon installations create stunning visual displays, however their longevity will always depend on environmental conditions. Direct sunlight, heat, wind, rain and sudden temperature changes can all affect the appearance and lifespan of latex balloons.
For the best results, install balloons as close to the event start time as practical and, where possible, choose shaded or sheltered locations. In hot weather, slightly underinflating balloons can allow room for expansion as temperatures rise, helping to reduce the risk of popping.
While Luxtex balloons are manufactured to exceptional quality standards, no latex balloon is immune to the effects of the natural environment. Weather conditions should always be considered when planning outdoor installations.
Helium float times will vary depending on balloon size, inflation level, temperature, humidity, altitude and surrounding environmental conditions. The figures below are intended as a general guide only.
For extended float times, a high-quality treatment such as Hi-Float® can be applied before inflation. For the best results, inflate balloons as close to your event as possible and avoid exposing helium-filled balloons to excessive heat or direct sunlight.
Luxtex currently offers a carefully curated range of professional-quality latex balloons to suit a wide variety of installations and designs:
Whether you're creating an intimate celebration or a large-scale installation, our range has been designed to provide decorators with the flexibility to bring their creative vision to life.
We're always looking to expand the Luxtex range. If there's a balloon size, shape or product you'd like to see in the future, we'd love to hear from you. Your feedback helps shape the future of Luxtex.
While balloons bring joy to every celebration, they should always be used responsibly. Children should be supervised when handling or playing with balloons, and uninflated or broken balloons should be kept out of reach, as they may present a choking hazard.
Always inspect balloons before use and discard any balloons that appear damaged. Balloons should never be released into the environment, and all balloons and accessories should be disposed of responsibly after use.
For professional decorators, ensure installations are securely anchored and appropriate for their environment to help minimise potential safety risks.
Luxtex balloons are manufactured from premium natural latex. While latex allergies are uncommon, some individuals may experience allergic reactions to natural latex.
Anyone with a known latex allergy should avoid direct contact with latex balloons and consult a medical professional if they are unsure. If an allergic reaction occurs, seek appropriate medical attention immediately.
Luxtex is committed to promoting responsible balloon use. Once your event has finished, dispose of balloons, ribbons and accessories thoughtfully to help protect our environment and wildlife.
Never release balloons intentionally into the environment. Instead, deflate balloons after use and dispose of them responsibly in accordance with your local waste and recycling guidelines where applicable.
By choosing responsible balloon practices, we can all play a part in reducing environmental impact while continuing to celebrate life's special moments.
Luxtex balloons are manufactured from premium natural latex, a renewable material derived from the sap of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). Natural latex is biodegradable, making it a more environmentally responsible choice than many synthetic alternatives.
At Luxtex, we believe beautiful celebrations and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. We encourage the responsible use, reuse where practical, and proper disposal of balloons and accessories to help minimise environmental impact.
Choosing high-quality balloons, planning installations thoughtfully and avoiding intentional balloon releases are all simple ways we can work together to celebrate responsibly.
We're here to help you get the very best from your Luxtex balloons. Whether you have a question about balloon selection, inflation techniques, product recommendations or your order, our team is always happy to assist.
